Automating SSH Login for Subversion

Required tools:

  1. puttygen.exe (PuTTY Public-Private Keys Pair Generator)
  2. pageant.exe (PuTTY Authetication Agent)
Required steps:
Generating Public-Private Keys Pair
  1. Open puttygen.exe. Generate public-private key pair using puttygen.exe. Enjoy moving your mouse! It is highly recommended to use pass_phrase for your key.
  2. Save private key.
  3. Open your home Samba server folder. Set Windows Explorer to view hidden files. Go to ‘.ssh’ folder. If ‘.ssh’ folder is not available, you have to use Command Window (cmd.exe). In Command Window, go to your Samba server folder using ‘cd [HOME_SAMBA_DRIVE]’, create ‘.ssh’ folder using ‘mkdir .ssh’. Create and open ‘authorized_keys’ (filename without extension) file using your favorite text editor such as Notepad in ‘.ssh’ folder.
  4. In the puttygen .exe interface in ‘Key’ frame, select all public key (or use click and drag), copy and paste to ‘authorized_keys’ file created in previous step. Please use copy-paste method only, do not save the public key to ‘authorized_keys’ file directly. Save and close ‘authorized_keys’ file.
  5. Close puttygen.exe.

Using pageant.exe for Authentication
1. Open pageant.exe. Add private key created previously. Let the pageant.exe open.
